God has emphasized throughout His word the importance of our being fruitful and we must consider what preparation and discipline we need to implement in order to fulfill all that He desires in our personal lives, and as a church family. We will be challenged to look at the fruit of our labors with the intention of evaluating whether changes need to be made to produce better harvests now and in the future.

FOCUS: Jeremiah was set apart as a prophet before He was born, but he is warned that his mission will not be easy, and he reaches some desperate times of discouragement, even accusing God of betraying him as he deals with people who don’t want to change FUNCTION: We will be reminded of the challenge of working with people and how those with a worldly disposition will fight against the truth of God, even if they are family or professed followers of God

FOCUS: Joshua is everything Israel asks for when they later seek a king because he works so well with God, keeping His ways a true priority, which is a powerful example for us to follow as ambassadors for God FUNCTION: We will be challenged to use Joshua’s example as a model for accomplishing the work God has for us to do so we stay humble and in step with God

In a world filled with evil & trouble, God provides insight into His ultimate plan through Jesus so we can live with confidence and hope, and even eternal purpose in our calling as the Church. We will begin to see what God intends for the Church as we see His plan for our rescue and how He has the trials under control

All heaven holds its breath and John weeps as One worthy to open the seals and fulfill God’s eternal plan is sought, but there is really no reason to weep as God has pointed to the One who would accomplish His will and redeem mankind throughout history!

FOCUS: The matchless love of God is displayed once again as God sends witnesses to try to restore the unrepentant even though He has already announced there will be no more delay; and these witnesses provide yet another picture of what God has been trying to do throughout history—calling us back to Himself! FUNCTION: We will be given more of a picture of the depth of God’s love in order to soften our hearts and remind us how much He cares!

FOCUS: With the 7th trumpet sounded and Jesus taking on ruling His Kingdom forever, we could expect the end being proclaimed, but God steps back to show the extent of the battle that has been waged for our lives throughout history FUNCTION: We will recognize the relentless attack by our enemy, who is constantly seeking an opportune time to attack, but will also see that it is no contest between him and our God because he has been thwarted every time

As John faces his own trails & persecution and sees the direction the world is heading, he is given a lens to see life as it really is - the person & ministry of Jesus - so he can pass on the hope and victory we actually have through his writing of Revelation.

FOCUS: God sent Jesus to plant seed for a harvest and one day Jesus will return when that harvest is ready; thus, we need to consider where we will be when the grain harvest and grape harvest are handled by the LORD. FUNCTION: We will consider what constitutes being in the good harvest of grain versus being part of the bad harvest of grapes so we live with more intention to fulfill what God has planted His seed to produce.

FOCUS: Often our picture of heaven gives us the sense that we are waiting to rise to Him for eternity, but the picture in Revelation 21 shows us in vivid imagery a different plan by God to bring His presence and will into our midst now and for eternity FUNCTION: We will be challenged to stay active in our faith because of God’s presence in this world as He strives to move us closer to Him so His will is done on earth as it is in heaven, rather than us waiting to rise to Him and becoming lazy or satisfied

As Jesus walks among His church evaluating streghts and weaknesses, He reminds the Church at Ephesus that intolerance for what is evil in important, but we must beware of the loss of love that tends to come with intolerance.

The people of Pergamum stand strong against an obvious assault by the devil, but what about influences that are more subtle—will they become desensitized and allow compromise to settle in, or stand firm with Jesus to the end?

The church at Sardis thought they were making a name for themselves but were actually in danger of having their names removed from the Book of Life because Jesus saw them as dead—their light was growing dimmer and unless they followed the prescription of Jesus, they would have no name before God

Laodicea receives a scathing rebuke for being lukewarm and blind to their condition due to their self-sufficiency, however Jesus says what He does because He wants to restore relationship and spend eternity together—but will we invite Him back in?

It takes 2 callings from God to get Abram to the Promised Land and then once he gets there, he quickly leaves when he faces famine, and through this we see God’s patience to lead us so we can fulfill our ministry of reconciliation along with how easy it is to be derailed by life events, distractions and poor choices

FOCUS: Life is full of distractions, but Moses calls the Israelites to remember what is most important prior to his death so they will make choices that prosper them and guide the next generation in their own faith development FUNCTION: We will be challenged to be more actively involved in the spiritual development of the generations following us, showing them how to love God wholeheartedly, how to remember His teachings among all the distractions and how to then pass on what we have learned & received to those following us.

With the first 6 trumpets having sounded and the wrath of God being shown, it is easy to focus on the tribulation and question the goodness of God, however a walk of faith requires us to see with a larger perspective because His ways are beyond our understanding
